Nabors Drilling -Information and Facts

Nabors drilling is an international on-demand drilling company. Oil drilling is critical to the world economy. And a company like this is critical to oil drilling all around the world.

According to Hoover’s, an online business resource, Nabors drilling company has nothing to do with Gomer Pyle. Well golley sarge.  As stated it’s a contract driller.  There aren’t many drilling contractors larger.  It counts 300 rigs in its drilling fleet.  It also provides equipment, equipment engineering and other services related to running drilling rigs.

Nabors drilling is headquartered in Houston, Texas, USA. Houston has a long history with the oil industry. At one time the city and surrounding area were hotbeds of oil production. Today, some rigs can still be seen pumping away at the oil found deep in the ground of Houston.

The Nabors drilling fleet includes quite a number of drilling related pieces of equipment. They have four barge rigs. Barge rigs are exactly what the name suggests. They’re drilling rigs placed on top of barges. They’re used to reach oil that’s found under shallow water.

There are 12 jack ups in the Nabors drilling fleet.  Jack ups, or jack up rigs, are mobile offshore oil and gas drilling platforms that can stand still on the sea floor.  Much like a tripod they stand on three legs.  The name comes from the ability to jack the legs up, much like a car jack.  These are only useful in relatively shallow waters.  There is no other offshore rig more popular than these.

There are also five marine vessels in the Nabors drilling fleet. Some of these are used for research purposes. But they are also used to tow some of the mobile rigs including platforms, jack ups, and barge rigs. Some of them also have a drill in the center. They’re floating rigs. The hole through which the rig drills is called a moon pool. It’s a hole in the hull.

There are 35 drilling platforms in the Nabors drilling fleet. Most people are familiar with drilling platforms. They are used for offshore drilling in deep waters. They often rest on pontoons. These are known as semi-submersibles.

Over 1000 land rigs complete the Nabors drilling fleet.  These are the rigs that people are familiar with on land.  They pump a lot of oil.

You may have never heard of Nabors drilling, but now you know all about it.
